What does Wokingham Borough Core Planning Strategy say?

Following the last election the ‘top down’ approach that was a feature of the last government is being replaced by a more localised approach and we are in a transitional period.

Currently Wokingham Borough Council’s Core Strategy remains in place and this is what it says in relation to the proposed wind farm.

The approach of the Core Strategy is to:

  • Protect the character of the borough by maintaining/improving the built/natural environment while mitigating the effect of new development on the environment’
  • Limit development in those areas at most risk of flooding and pollution’
  • Protect the most important areas of biodiversity, landscape and heritage from development’
  • ‘Maintain the distinct and separate indentity of the boroughs settlements’
  • ‘Ensure good design which is in keeping with the area’

How can proposing to build 4 wind turbines each 426 feet high meet any of these objectives?
